“Malmee” - The Biggest Cake Show in Sri Lanka
In the first quarter of every year, our school holds the
biggest cake show in Sri Lanka. There are over 500
students participating in this show and display over
2000 sugar craft artifacts. Students’ participation is a
requirement to obtain the “Advanced Diploma in Cake
Decorating”, our main and comprehensive course on sugar
artistry, which includes many delicate crafting
techniques, such as string work, piping and also sugar
flowers. There are several categories under which the
students participate in Malmee cake show; Wedding Cake
Structures, Novelty Cakes, Sugar & Gelatine Flower
Arrangements, Sugar Plants, Sugar Plaques, and Gelatin
Cake Structures.
Several leading companies in the country, which have
their interest in sugar craft industry, join us in this
event. Some of the companies we had the pleasure of
working with in the past and/or continue to work with,
are Motha Confectionaries (Pvt) Ltd, HANTS Group, AB
Mauri Lanka Ltd., Unilevers Ceylon Ltd, Brown & Company
PLC, and Lassana Flora.
Malmee is held in different parts of the country as a
series of exhibitions, to give the people who live
outside Colombo, a chance to witness our work and to
give them an opportunity to join us in learning the Art
of Sugar Crafting. We further present the innovative
Gelatin Creations, giving the people a unique experience
of the wonderful things which can be done using Gelatin.
Mr. Clement invented and introduced this method to the
world in 2003 and since then he has been sharing this
creative method of cake decorating all over the world.
The students of our gelatin classes display various
types of gelatin creations such as Sceneries, Bridal
Bouquets, Table Top Arrangements, Christmas Décor,
Sculptures made out of gelatin.
